| Dose: | The dose of these medicines will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label. The following information includes only the average doses of these medicines. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so. Use Testosterone Gel as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions. An extra patient leaflet is available with Testosterone Gel. Talk to your pharmacist if you have questions about this information. Apply Testosterone Gel to clean, dry skin on the shoulders and/or upper arms. Some brands of Testosterone Gel may be applied to the stomach area. Check with your pharmacist to see if your brand may be applied to the stomach area. Apply Testosterone Gel to clean, dry skin. Do not apply Testosterone Gel to the scrotum or genitals. Do not apply it over open sores, wounds, or irritated skin. Wash your hands immediately after using Testosterone Gel. Allow Testosterone Gel to dry for a few minutes before dressing. Cover the application site (eg, with a shirt) to prevent others from coming into contact with Testosterone Gel. For best results, wait 5 to 6 hours after applying Testosterone Gel before you shower or swim. Showering or swimming just 1 hour after applying Testosterone Gel may be permitted if done very infrequently. |

It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. Testosterone Gel is an androgen hormone. It works by replacing or supplementing the testosterone that is naturally made in the body. | |
| Side effects: | All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most common side effects persist or become bothersome: Breast swelling or tenderness, increased acne or hair growth, headache, depressed mood, changes in your sex drive. Seek medical attention right away if any of these severe side effects occur: problems with urination, swelling of your ankles, frequent, prolonged, or bothersome erections, nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes). Topical testosterone is absorbed through the skin and can cause symptoms of male features in a woman who comes into contact with the medication. Call your doctor if your female partner has male-pattern baldness, excessive body hair growth, increased acne, irregular menstrual periods, or any other signs of male characteristics.
