| Description: | Relpax (eletriptan hydrobromide) is an antimigraine medication, and should not be used to relieve any kind of pain other than migraine. Many people find that their migraines go away completely after they take eletriptan. Other people find that their migraines are much less painful, and that they are able to go back to their normal activities even though their migraines are not completely gone. Relpax belongs to a group of drugs called \"triptans.\" Migraines are thought to occur when certain blood vessels in the brain become swollen (dilated). This drug works by helping blood vessels in the brain to return to normal size. It may also block pain signals in the brain. Eletriptan is used to treat migraines when they occur. It helps to relieve headaches, pain, and other symptoms of migraines, including nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light/sound. Eletriptan does not prevent future migraines or reduce how often you may get a migraine. Relpax should only be used during a genuine attack of classic migraine. Do not attempt to prevent migraines with this drug, and do not use it for tension headaches, cluster headaches, or unusual types of migraine such as hemiplegic or basilar migraine. Take 1 dose of Relpax as soon as your symptoms appear. If the headache goes away but returns later, a second dose may be taken if 2 hours have elapsed since the first dose. Relpax relieves the pain and symptoms of even the worst migraines. And it works fast. For some people, Relpax starts to work in 30 minutes. And, most people are able to get back to their day within 2 hours. Plus, Relpax is well tolerated. It is best to take one Relpax tablet whenever you feel migraine pain coming on. Because the sooner you take Replax, the better it will work. If you cannot take Relpax right away, do not worry, just take it as soon as possible. You can still get relief. And, for most people, taking Relpax means that they can get back to their day within 2 hours. Simply take the tablet whole, with water. You do not have to take Relpax with food. Overall, Relpax is well-tolerated. As with most medications, people taking Relpax may have side effects. Usually, these are mild and do not last long.
